Do Toe Socks Actually Help?
Toe Socks for Improving Foot Health | Pros & Cons | My Recommendations
Toe socks are one of those subtle switches that can make a surprising impact.
Back in 2016, fresh out of therapy school, I switched to barefoot-style shoes. This change turned me into the guy you now know as Barefoot Will.
For the next three years, though, I kept wearing conventional socks inside my minimalist shoes.
Three years later, I tried my first pair of toe socks.
Almost instantly, my Nike socks felt smothering.
I ordered a cheap pack of Amazon specials that same week. I believe they were the V-Well brand. (I don’t recommend them).
Within about six weeks of wearing toe socks exclusively, I noticed real changes, especially in my toes.
After a long day at the clinic I kicked off my shoes and socks, looked down, and thought, “Whoa… I actually have space between my toes even at rest.”
At that point I was already three years deep into barefoot shoes and thought I’d squeezed out every possible gain in foot strength and dexterity.
I was shocked at how much difference the socks alone made.
I started to gain the ability to actively spread my toes apart.
“I NOW HAVE TOE-TAL CONTROL” *evil villain voice*
Yes, toe socks have a couple minor downsides, but in my opinion the benefits far outweigh them.
So much so that I now mail every new client a few pairs of Maro toe socks in their complimentary Foundational Restoration Kit.
I just posted a YouTube video covering all the benefits, the small inconveniences, and exactly which Toe Sock brands I trust.
If you’ve been considering the switch, give it a watch (or a listen).
Hope you enjoyed this one!
